Redevelopment Update-July
The status on the GPHC clubhouse redevelopment as at July 3rd ,2016 is as follows:
Building works commenced at GPHC on May 16, 2016 as planned.
The following activities have occurred over the previous six weeks :
-
Existing asbestos roof replaced with new metal deck roof
-
Existing services removed
-
Managers flat, gymnasium, clubhouse entry and squash court demolished
-
Bar area stripped and portion of balcony removed ready for new balcony construction
-
New earthworks bench, sub-floor plumbing and blinding concrete installed at western end in preparation for new floor slab
We acknowledge it has been a difficult time for members whilst no access to the clubhouse has been permitted whilst these works have been carried out but we look forward to getting access to a portion of the ground floor of the clubhouse (outside the pro-shop) with corresponding access to change rooms and showers in mid-July.

Redevelopment Update-May
The status on the GPHC clubhouse redevelopment as at 9th May ,2016 is as follows:
-
Both GPHC and Council have executed the Land Swap contractual agreements.
-
GPHC awaits a copy of the draft Construction Access Licence Agreement which we intend to enter into with Council to allow us to physically build on Council land prior to this land being recognised as ours by the Titles Office (this will likely mitigate a further 3 to 4 month delay)
-
Whilst there has been no works carried out on site to date, there has been substantial work carried out behind the scenes by our Committee, Consultants and Builder on matters pertaining to design, program, costs, authority offers, shop drawings, contract letting and a myriad of other things required as part of the development that will assist the process to run as smoothly as possible once the go ahead is given to commence.
-
Johns Lyng is the appointed builder and is working in well with Club representatives on preparatory items
-
The new anticipated start is sometime in May 2016 – exact date still to be confirmed
-
The anticipated finish date is likely to be April 2017.
-
The most disruptive period from the Club’s viewpoint will be the first 3 to 5 weeks after the building commencement date when the builder needs total site access to carry out removal of the asbestos cement roof sheets. After this period, the club will re-gain access to the pro-shop, toilets/showers and the small lounge area just outside the pro-shop.
-
As a general rule, the project will not be “staged” as such in order to keep costs to a minimum.
-
GPHC has appointed ASB as the “nominated subcontractor” to carry out the construction of the squash courts. There will be one all-glass court and three “system” courts. Shop drawings for these courts are complete and have been incorporated into the overall design.
We appreciate it has been a difficult time for members and trust they will continue to be both patient and supportive during the construction process when there will be significant inconvenience. However, there is no doubt exciting times are in front of us and we are confident of a great outcome for all members at GPHC.
