Booking a Tennis Court
The online GPHC booking system enables members to book tennis courts at any time that they are not being used for competition, coaching or other organized events. All court bookings must be made via this online booking system. Court bookings are mandatory for both members and non-members.
Members may book to play with a non-member guest and will incur a guest fee of $15.00 per adult & $5.00 per junior/student, which is payable at the time of booking. Non-members may book tennis court 7 within certain time restrictions (please refer below for the available times) which are controlled by the booking system. Fees for non-members are due at the time of booking.
The Club has seven en-tout-cas tennis courts and one mini hard court. All of these are equipped with lights and may be utilised for night tennis.
Use of tennis lights
To use the lights, a key can be obtained from the bar at a cost of $10.00 per hour. It is important that the lights are switched off after use by returning the keys to the clubs bar manager (Mick Liszukiewicz).
In order to make a booking via the GPHC online system you will need to provide your name and email. Members will also need to provide the number on their membership card (under their name). Your first name will appear on the booking and is visible to the public.
Guest of members are able to use the clubs facilities up to 6 instances per year. If a guest of member wishes to use the facilities more than 6 instances per year, then they are required to apply to become a member of GPHC.
Non-members may book a court at certain times for a fee of $30/hour. The online booking system shows the available times.
Non-members are able to use tennis court 7 only and are limited to hiring a court to the below times:
Monday: 10:00am – 9:00pm
Tuesday - Thursday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
Friday: 10:00am - 9:00am
Saturday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
Sunday: 12:00pm – 8:00pm
Grace Park Hawthorn Club is extremely active in competitive tennis, catering for all ages and standards. Information regarding the variety of competitions the Club participates in can be found below.
Premier League is the state’s highest level inter club competition in which clubs battle it out for a total prize money pool of $20,000 in the men’s and women’s competitions.
Grace Park Hawthorn Club (men’s) were crowned the winners of five Premier League seasons from 2013 - 2017.
Tennis Victoria Winter Pennant
Tennis Victoria Pennant is Australia’s largest inter-club competition and marks its 136th consecutive year in 2019. The competition caters for players of all standards ranging from Grade 1 down to Grade 10. Matches are played weekly on Saturdays and Sundays, alternating between singles and doubles on a weekly basis.
Bayside Regional Junior Competition
Grace Park Hawthorn Club participates in the Bayside competition on for the juniors. All information can be found by downloading the current fixture and information booklet. The next deadline for the Feb to June 2019 competition is the start of November.

Tennis Coaching at GPHC is led by professional head tennis coach, Terry Stone, who coordinates all matters regarding tennis coaching for Members and non-members, adults and juniors. Please contact Terry on the below contact form.
During school terms, three courts are utilised during weekdays for the coaching of school children, from 4pm to 7pm. Two courts are also required for coaching on Sunday mornings (9am to 12pm).
During vacation periods, a number of intensive tennis clinics are arranged for junior and senior players. These are generally of five days duration. Advance notice of these clinics is displayed in the online booking system. In addition to the above, Members and non-members may arrange private lessons.
The Club’s courts are heavily committed in approved tennis play at night (after 7pm) during the week. Courts 1 to 5 are reserved for Night Tennis Competition on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. All Courts are reserved on Wednesday for Night Social Tennis. (Court 6 can be used for Coaching.) All courts are generally freely available on Friday night.
The courts at the club are always open. Bookings are preferred, however, if no booking has been made, Members have the right to use the courts on a first come first served basis, subject to the following provisos:
some courts may be unavailable for general use due to coaching activities, or other approved uses (such arrangements will be indicated on the notice board)
if all courts are full, doubles games have precedence over singles games. However, players already on court are permitted to commence and complete a set before having to vacate a court;
members shall not play more than one set consecutively if players of equal right are waiting. However, Members have no right to wait on a court already occupied if there is available a vacant court elsewhere.

A system of booking applies to the use of court lights for play between the hours of 5pm and 10pm, seven days of the week provided they are not already reserved for approved uses or reserved for Tennis Coaching. Bookings may be made up to one week in advance by telephoning or calling in at the Clubhouse.
Visitors to the club (without a GPHC member):
Visitors’ Tennis fees are $10.00 per adult, $5.00 per student and $3.00 per junior.
Guests of Members (when playing with a GPHC member):
Member’s guests Tennis fees are $10.00 per adult, $5.00 per student and $3.00 per junior.
Night tennis and visitors joining you on court
Members have an obligation to assist in the proper maintenance of the tennis courts. In particular, courts must be “bagged” after each set of play, watered if necessary, and “bagged” prior to players leaving the court.
